Sumu Sathi is the host of BluntTRUTH show, speaker and a body confidence coach for women. Sumu is a child of Tamil refugee parents from Srilanka and she currently works as a social services worker for the Canadian government. She has a B.Sc from University of Toronto and is currently pursuing her degree in Bachelor of Social Work at University of Manitoba. Sumu grew up in a low-income neighborhood in Toronto which was high in gang violence, which made her enter the social work industry. Her interest in performing arts made her explore dancing, acting, producing, directing, hosting shows and now plus-size modeling. Sumu also had the privilege of interviewing prime-minister Justin Trudeau during her media days. Her advocacy and community work has been featured in Toronto Star, Toronto.com, NOW Toronto, SAPNA Toronto and the Ontario Council of International Cooperation. She was nominated for the Waterfront Awards in 2019 under the innovator category. Sumu uses her 10+ years’ experience in the social work industry and media experience to empower women to break barriers and create their own opportunities. Her future goals include completing her Masters in Social Work to have her own clinical therapy practice for women struggling with body-confidence.
